| An Evening of Drama and Laughter Review by NODA Representative Anne Key Huckerby November 2003
On
reflection, I feel it's good policy to occasionally stage a number of
short one-act plays for this gives less experienced performers the
chance to act. Directed by Martin Lishman, the first half was
devoted to Deckchairs by Jean McConnell. Two of the sections
(Shoppers and Dancers) were very light-hearted. In complete
contrast, Early Blight had pathos and rejection. All these
offerings were extremely well-portrayed by the six ladies. The
second half commenced with David Campton's strange but droll Out of the
Frying Pan with the two protagonists having excellent timing. The
evening concluded in fine style with Peter and Patricia Arris's comical
melodrama Tram Track Tragedy. The MC for the evening was Mike
Callaghan. Most entertaining.
