The King and I 2004

For this production Director/Musical Director Anthony Grunwell used two keyboards and percussion instead of a conventional orchestra.  Although I like this exciting score to be given the full works, I must admit the accompaniment was fine.

The cast was virtually infallible with good support from the chorus and the appealing array of children who all acted, sang and danced with aplomb.  The Ballet was delightfully choreographed and movement throughout the show was beautifully stylised. The oriental-type costumes looked really authentic and the scenery had truly Eastern characteristics.  The technical aspects were in good hands, and the stage hands, dressed as slaves, coped with scene-changes impressively.

Well done.
