A Man for all Seasons

We thoroughly enjoyed last evening's performance of "A Man for all Seasons", and it is always good to have a chance to chat with the members of the cast and other friends afterwards.

There was so much about the play that I liked.  The cast could not have been better chosen, I am sure.  The set was excellent and the props added so well to the overall look of the thing.  Rodney was explaining how the harpichord effect is achieved; the musical interlude certainly enhances the production in a way that a tape cannot.

As More, Martin was quite matchless.  He brought the character alive to me so easily.  I applaud the portrayals by Bruce and Mike, too, for these were such important roles and they could have been quite ineffective in others' hands.  I liked the essential touches of humour brought by Colin's Common Man, while both Susan and Janet were equally telling in their parts.  The rest of the characters all played their roles very well and there were not weak links at all.

I thought the set was excellent.  How well-designed it was, and the props all were eminently suitable.  Having those glorious costumes provided the icing on the cake; wonderful!  The lighting was very dramatic.
