The (Female) Odd Couple

The
Odd Couple isn't really my sort of play, but I can really appreciate
just how hard everyone worked, and you only needed to listen to the
uproarous laughter from the audience to know how much people were
enjoying it all. I have to admit that even I laughed out aloud on
numerous occasions. I thought all the cast were very good
in their respective roles. Cathy Mellor (Olive Maddison) and
Patsy Figg (Florence Unger) were excellent. So too were Brian
Jackson (Manolo Costazuela) and Ed Rees (Jesus Costazuela), and the
rest of the girls gave excellent support. In particular, I
thought they all coped admirably with the American accents and their
various outfits were inspired.
The set was very pleasing and the props were superb. I
congratulate all the backstage crew on their efficiency. Well
done, to Peter Ayre on his direction of the whole thing.
