The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas Review - NODA

Raunchy, yet with typical American 'country' appeal, this show had much for the enthusiastic audience to appreciate.

Beverley Moore was well chosen as Mona Stangley, the 'Madame' of the Chicken Ranch establishment. Her rendition of 'I Will Always Love You' was great. Jon Molson was equally notable as Ed Earl Dodd, the Sheriff. Daran Bland was suitably brash as Melvin P Thorpe and Sam Johnson's good-natured Governor of Texas was fine. All of Mona's girls played their parts admirably. Rebecca Jones revealed very contrasting sides to Jewel's nature. Congratulations to Craig Delaney, who not only conducted the band, but also played an integral part in the telling of the story.

Just occasionally the diction could have been more distinct. We have to remember that if you can't hear the words, it is difficult to understand the story.

The set was a masterpiece of design which meant scenery changes were achieved easily and efficiently. The lighting and sound effects were in safe hands. An exciting evening's entertainment.
