Wyrd Sisters Review - NODA

Martin Tyrrell has a longstanding and avid interest in this particular adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's book from the Discworld series which was strongly evidenced in his direction of this production; his attention to detail ensured that the vast amount of comedic content contained in this play was identified to the audience, thus providing them with very good entertainment.

This parody of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" has 23 scenes and it is imperative that changes are swiftly executed in order to provide continuity and pace; this was achieved by the use of digital projection as an alternative to some conventional scenery and provided very realistic backdrops. The use of lighting, sound effects, pyrotechnics and incidental music were all used to help create atmosphere. The costumes were very appropriate as was the make-up; particularly outstanding was the facial work on the Devil and the dead King Verence. The witches, Granny Weatherwax (Beverley Moore), Nanny Ogg (Mandy Collier) and Magrat Garlick (Laura Coates) were excellent as the trio of "Wyrd Sisters", Leonal Felmet (Jonathan Tibbs) and Lady Felmet (Jane Moss) were well paired and the Fool (Rob Callaby) delivered a fine performance. Tomjon (Ollie Johnson) and Hwel (Brett Moore) were both convincing as travelling players, with supporting roles delivered competently by other members of the cast.

Well done all concerned in providing this "bewitching" experience.
